Since 1776 the United States of America has transformed from an experiment of the western world into a generational home for many. A home with unique freedoms and opportunities that yet to be seen elsewhere. America is many things, but for all of us in Mandan, Bismarck, Lincoln and the surrounding area, it is home. This home is a gift we cherish, and we recognize, that even in the face of constant difficulties, she is held together and lifted up by the common man. By the person that lays their life down everyday to provide selflessly for others.

Protected by those who gave their lives to defend it and built by those who have calloused their hands. America was founded, fostered and is now fed by those who protect her and serve daily. Every person who calls America home and pours themselves out unto exhaustion to do so, deserves more praise than they have ever received. 

The American Heart never ceases to rest. The American Heart is, as Theodore Roosevelt once said, "the man in the arena," but even the man in the arena must rest and reflect on what has been accomplished. In Mandan, we have celebrated the accomplishments of America for nearly 150 years and this year marks a special milestone in our nation's history. 

July 4th, 2026 doesn't simply mark 250 years since America's founding, it marks 250 years of patriotism, generations of children, their parents, grandparents and so on laying their lives down in love for the betterment of those who will come after them. This is the American Dream. The American Dream only succeeds when we reflect on what it truly means to have freedoms and know opportunity. For 2026, there is no better place to reflect on this dream than in Mandan, North Dakota.
